Sargassum is an important environmental resource, but it is also negatively impacting several communities in Florida and around the world. Join us to learn about and discuss Sargassum’s benefits, issues, and solutions to help alleviate problems in environmentally conscious ways.

2020 Webinar Series

This two-part webinar series is free, open to the public, and will include several opportunities for questions and answers, and exchange of ideas (open forum).

Webinar 1: July 17, 2020 10AM-12PM US EST

Government entities working on managing Sargassum in South Florida will make presentations to answer the following questions:

  1. What is currently being done to address Sargassum, and who is doing it?

  2. What problems are being faced? What are the pros and cons of existing efforts?

  3. What would you like to do moving forward, or what environmental and scientific information would you like to have to better inform decision-making?

      Our first Sargassum Issues and Solutions Event took place on July 30, 2019 at the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science and via live webcast with participants from around the world. There were approximately 100 attendees in person and online.
